NYSDOH & MEDICAL CONTROL

The New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) policies regarding EMS Medical Control may be found in the following policy statements:

MEDICAL CONTROL PLAN

Medical Control is (a) the advice and direction provided by a physician or under the direction of a physician to certified first responders, emergency medical technicians or advanced emergency medical technicians who are providing medical care at the scene of an emergency and (b) indirect medical control including the written policies, procedures, and protocols for pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation developed by the state emergency medical advisory committee, approved by the state council and the commissioner and implemented by the regional medical advisory committees.

APPLYING / TESTING FOR ON-LINE MEDICAL CONTROL PHYSICIAN

To be credentialed as an On-line Medical Control Physician in the Westchester Region, a physician must:

A complete OLMC application package must be MAILED (faxes are not accepted) to the Westchester Regional EMS Office (may be sent via the MC or SR ED Director) and MUST include:

MAINTAINING / UPDATING MEDICAL CONTROL PHYSICIAN STATUS

To be maintained as an On-line Medical Control in the Westchester Region:

  • Remain employed by a Westchester Regional Medical Control or Special Resource Hospital
    (See listing of regional facilities on the Hospital subpage.)

  • Promptly seek to change official primary MC or SR hospital if regional affiliation changes
    - Medical Control Physician Update Form

  • Notify Westchester Regional EMS Office of changes in contact information (address, email, etc.)
    - Medical Control Physician Update Form

  • Complete any required MC updates issued by the REMAC:
    - THERE ARE NO UPDATES CURRENTLY

 

All exams should be turned into the Emergency Department Director or his or her designee for submission to the Regional EMS Office.

ACTIVE REGIONAL ON-LINE MEDICAL CONTROL PHYSICIANS

The hospital listed is the primary Medical Control or Special Resource Hospital affiliation of record for that Medical Control Physician:

ON-LINE MEDICAL CONTROL PHYSICIAN ID CARDS

Staff  are able to take photos for the Medical Control Physician photo ID cards Monday through Friday (except for holidays) in Regional EMS Offices at the Department of Emergency Services Training Center, 4 Dana Rd., Valhalla, NY

Normal business hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.  It is strongly suggested that the office is contacted beforehand to ensure that both the staff and the system are available at that time.  Please call the Regional EMS Office at 914-231-1616 for more information.
