Bordered by New York City and the Long Island Sound to the south, the Hudson River to the west, Putnam County (Hudson Valley Region) to the north, and Fairfield County (Connecticut) to the east, the region covers an area of 450 square miles and almost one million residents.  

An amalgam of volunteer and career providers, independent and fire service based organizations,  EMS operations in the Westchester Region are comprised of forty-three (43) certified ambulance services, two (2) ALS First Response agencies, and over thirty (30) BLS First Response agencies. 

The Regional EMS Council and its Program Agency, the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services, are responsible for overseeing and coordinating EMS operations as per New York State Public Health Law in the county of Westchester.

  • WTC Responders Health / Fatality Investigation Programs (717/2008)
    Deadline to Register is August 13, 2008:
    For 9/11 workers and volunteers who did rescue, recovery or cleanup work in either Manhattan or Staten Island (Fresh Kills Landfill), NYS Workers’ Compensation Law requires that you file a claim to protect your right for workers’ compensation if you have currently, or develop in the future, a 9/11- related illness.

  • PARAMEDIC AHA PROTOCOL UPDATE (3/21/2008)
    DEADLINE FOR UPDATE - 3/31/2008 ! All Paramedic-level agencies were mailed copies of the amended protocols affected by the AHA guideline changes with the update process.  Credentialed paramedics are required to be in-serviced by their Primary Agency of Record.

  • IMPORTANT UPDATE - RE: BLS PROTOCOL UPDATE TRAINING (6/14/07)
    READ REGIONAL EMS OFFICE MEMORANDUM: Based upon inquires from local EMS agencies regarding roll-out for the NYS BLS Protocol update related to aspirin administration for Cardiac Related Emergencies, the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) Bureau of EMS (BEMS) has indicated that methods of distributing Service Medical Director approved training presentations, other than in a classroom setting, are acceptable
