Call Audits (CA)

ALS providers in the Westchester Region are required to attend Call Audit (s) to maintain their regional credentials.  The number of CA hours needed is based upon an individual's expiration date and time in the system.  The REMAC Credentialing Policy (pdf) outlines these requirements.  A chart is also available on the Credentialing Page explaining the breakout over a three year period.  Please contact the Regional EMS Office at (914) 231 - 1616 for information for a specific Paramedic or EMT-Intermediate.

ALS CALL AUDITS (From REMAC Policy)

 ALS call audits must be conducted by a Westchester REMAC certified physician. 

 ALS call audits shall be conducted in a manner similar to grand rounds, with case presentation by the ALS providers. REMAC has established the following guidelines for ALS call audits: 

1.      All cases should be presented by ALS providers

2.      Cases should be rotated among ALS providers

3.      Hospital follow-up is encouraged as an educational tool

4.      Call audits should address an academic theme (i.e. chest pain)

5.      Call audits should be a minimum of one (1) hour in duration

6.      Call audits should be pared with a CME topic

All ALS audits shall be reported to the Westchester REMAC by the Sponsor. An approved Westchester Regional CME/CA Attendance Sheet sign-in sheet documenting the attendance will be forwarded to the REMAC upon the completion of the audit. 

All providers must obtain proof of attendance by completing a CME/CA Student Form and having it signed by the REMAC Physician conducting the audit. Westchester Region credentialed AEMTs are responsible for retaining copies of his or her own students forms and providing a copy his or her Primary ALS Agency.

WARNING: Schedule changes may occur without the Regional EMS Office's knowledge.  IF ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING A LISTED CALL AUDIT, INCLUDING VERIFYING THE SCHEDULE, CALL THE CONTACT PERSON FOR EACH HOSPITAL/EMS Agency directly.  Please note that sites tend to be closed on major holidays.
