Since 1973, beginning with the Westchester
County EMS Council and continued by the Westchester Regional EMS Council,
time is taken each year to honor those individuals who have contributed to
emergency medical services. Awards are presented to emergency
communication specialists, prehospital and hospital providers, EMS
educators and leaders, as well as civilian
bystanders.

Provider of the Year |

Criteria:
Contribution
to the community as an Emergency Medical Technician-Intermediate
(EMT-I), EMT-Critical Care Technician (EMT-CC), or Paramedic
(EMT-P). Dedication, responsibility, professional behavior,
ingenuity, special skill or insight in the EMS
environment.

NYS Certified EMT-I, EMT-CC, EMT-P. |

Agency of the Year |

Criteria:
Any agency which strives for consistency in EMS excellence
and exhibits exemplary performance when providing prehospital
emergency medical care.
Eligibility:
A NYS certified volunteer or career EMS agency, i.e., NYS
certified ambulance service, fire department, police department,
hospital emergency department, EMS council, dispatch organization,
first responder unit, etc. |

Criteria:
Longevity, innovation/dedication, responsibility, executive
and management skills in establishing, maintaining, promoting or
expanding EMS organizations, agencies, committees at the community,

medical/nursing/or career EMS leader. |

the Westchester Region. |

Criteria:
Exceptional contribution
to EMS by an individual, broadly affecting the quality of EMS in the
region.

Does not require a Regional agency or facility submission.
May be nominated for any other award in the same year. This award
may not be given every year. The Council will determine the process
of selection. |

Provider of the Year |

Criteria:
Contributions by a 14 to 18 year old
individual to the community as a certified first responder (CFR) or
first aid certified. For dedication, responsibility, professional
behavior, ingenuity, special skill or insight in the EMS
community.

14 to 18 year provider, NYS certified CFR
or First Aid and affiliated with a first response agency (EMS, fire,
police) |
