Public Information & Education Committee (PIEC)

According to the REMSCO By-laws, preparation and distribution of information concerning emergency medical services and Council activity will be a primary responsibility of the Public Education and Information Committee, which shall represent the Council in its relationship with the news media and the public. The Public Information and Education Committee shall have the primary responsibility of preparing and distributing information concerning emergency medical services on behalf of the Council.  The committee shall represent the Council in its relationship with the news media and the public. 

Special Events

The PIEC oversees 2 major events for the REMSCO each year.  Please go to their respective subpages for more information:

• Annual Regional EMS Awards -
  Nominees are accepted from agencies throughout the region for Awards in several general categories.  The awardees are presented at an annual dinner is held during National EMS Week in May. The recipients of the regional awards are then submitted to the New York State EMS Council as nominees for the state awards presented at the State EMS Conference Vital Signs each fall.

• EMS Appreciation Day -
  Applications are accepted from agencies throughout the region for responder recognition for provision of care that led to a life-saving, or efforts that went above and beyond the everyday response.  The recipients of these recognitions are presented at an annual picnic that is held during the summer months at Rye Playland.
